2021.12.07 12:26 DailyLaSalle Research study on parent/guardian sources of vaccine information
I am an associate professor at La Salle University. I am looking to interview parents and guardians of children ages 6 months to 11 years who have not yet received a COVID-19 vaccine. In the 30-45 minute research interview conducted via video call, I will ask parents/guardians questions about where you get information about children’s vaccines in general and where you get information about COVID-19 vaccines for children.
Those who participate will be entered into a drawing to win one of four $25 online gift cards for Carter’s (children’s clothing).
If you or someone you know would be interested in participating, either fill out this brief survey to indicate your interest or email Kelly Daily at [firstname.lastname@example.org](mailto:email@example.com) for more information.
This study (IRB#21-09-027) was reviewed and approved by the Institutional Review Board of La Salle University on Oct. 29, 2021.

2021.12.07 12:26 stroduces Are area maps in Fantasy considered childish?
TLDR; Are my chapter illustrations too childish for adult readers?
A regional or world map at the start of a fantasy book, I'm all for it. I love having a scan of a map before getting into the story.
My question is around more detailled area maps, the example I've posted here is an area map I've done for a single chapter in my WIP story. The characters are here in this area for approx 11 pages and then they move on. One of my characters is a cartographer and I like the idea of him charting maps of areas that the group travel through. I decided to take it a step further and have these maps dotted between chapters as full page illustrations (similar in style to how Shallan's notebook pages are in Stormlight Archive). My question to the group here is: As an adult reader would you feel that this story is designed for children or YA?
*Note that my story is borderline grimdark with gruesome battle scenes and rampant swearing and is by no measure not suitable for young readers.

2021.12.07 12:26 Ashikaru Winter Camping / Sleeping Bag Advice: Marmot Lithium 0° - Cold Legs
I picked up a Marmot Lithium 0° bag late this summer in hopes of getting into some winter backpacking. Since it's been ~10 years since the last time I've gone winter camping I've used the bag for about 8-10 nights on car camping trips to dial in my sleep system.
So far I've used the bag in temps ranging from 20-40° F and have found my legs getting cold in the early morning hours, especially on the nights where it gets down to 20°F. I'm going to bed in a dry set of wool 250 weight base layer along with fresh, dry socks and my MH puffy stuffed into the bottom of the bag to take up the dead space around my feet. I've noticed that most of the cold I'm feeling is coming from the zipper cover in the bag which is leaving a noticeably colder spot in the bag.
I don't think my sleeping pad is causing any issues as I've been sleeping on a Thermarest foam pad (R2.0) plus a Sea to Summit Ether Light XT (R3.2), but I do plan on picking up a Thermarest XTherm before my first backpacking trip. I've also made sure to fluff my bag prior to use each night and allow it to dry out in the sun each day (and at home between trips).
I'm a bit lost as what to do to stay warm. My thought is to maybe add a beefier down flap over the zipper section on the bag? I'd love to hear more suggestions though on how you all keep warm while winter backpacking!

2021.12.07 12:26 devilmaykri98 Santa's drip is immaculate, and I hate that it doesn't get enough praise.
Let's look at the facts... Santa's an old man with a long, white and well kept beard. Usually for someone of his liking, you see them rocking blue jeans, a flannel they've had for decades and a trucker hat. Santa could've gone the same route. But no. This man comes out every year with the red broadcloth and white fur.

2021.12.07 12:26 BetterEachDay24 Turning Down a Shaft DIY? Am I crazy?
I am curious as to whether I am delusional about a plan of mine and wanted to consult yall.
(Important background: I am somewhat skilled in carpentry and have renovated an entire house solo prior to this). I recently shot a few racks with a 11.8mm custom CF shaft from a local cue builder with a hard tip and LOVED it. However, I really don't have 300 bucks to be throwing down on only a shaft even though I really love supporting the sport (I do patronize his business as often as I can). I would also consider the JFlowers CF $300 deal but it isn't offered in a smaller diameter.
I want to get one of those Sharpshooter "Lathes" where you use a cordless drill as the motor and use it to turn down my shaft with a fitted 5/16 x 18 arbor instead of that "universal" junk. My cue is a Pure X HXTC9 that comes standard with a pro taper and 12.75mm tip that I have had for about a year now. There is also a Skinny version of the same shaft available, but $180 sounds steep for the same thing slightly smaller. This tip is at 11.75mm. I would assume that these are basically the same manufacturing process with a turn down at the end, which would mean the same diameter of LD material within the shaft.
Could I use the "lathe" to turn down my cue and extend the taper using some heavy grit sandpaper without running into issues? I understand I would have to step down to smaller grits to make it smooth again. I like the idea that I could do it in 2 stages (12.5 and then 12.25) and I only plan to go down to about 12.25 because that it the lowest turndown that Ozone offers. I think a staged approach would also be nice in case it feels like the "whippiness" is noticeably more after going down a quarter mm.
Roast me and tell me all the things that could go wrong please and how I should go about it. I am forseeing:
-Issues with it being slightly imperfect roundedness (I can deal with this and readjust it later)
-Thinning out the ferrule too much to where it might break (Problematic, but if this happens could a professional repair it?)
-Moisture somehow warping the cue afterwards (How do i prevent this? Do i need to have it hang in a certain position in dry conditions for a length of time and seal it afterwards? What do i use to reseal it? Do i have to reseal it?)
-Diameter of LD foam is too high and I bust the shaft open (This would majorly suck)
IF you are just vehemently against me doing something like this, what would you say is reasonable to pay a pro for turning it down half a mm and retipping?
Thanks for reading and helping me make an informed decision about this! I appreciate the wealth of knowledge yall put on this subreddit! Even if I have to scroll though 40 "what cue/table is this and is it worth it?" posts :)
